Event overview:

This 2008 OFR was a Sunday daylight event starting and finishing in Chillicothe, Ohio.  The route wasbe composed of two 50+/- mile loops from Chillicothe, one through the Sunriser stages of Tar Hollow Forest and the other through the Scioto Trail stage roads.  The route was about 80% paved, with the remainder well-maintained State Forest gravel roads.

NOTE:  The event date was be Sunday, October 22, 2008.  A email vote ran 2:1 for Sunday, rather than Saturday.

Plans are under way for the 2009 event.  At this point it will either be a typical CORC OFR, much like the 2008 event, run on August 29 or 30, 2009.  There is a possibility that it will be expanded to a longer event and pushed back to October 18-19.  Watch the CORC site for specifics as they get sorted out.  The remainder of the information published at this time is from the 2008 event.

Route Status:

The roads are in great shape with the fall colors just about peak by the time of the rally.  If anything the leaves may be staring to fall which tends to make it tough to see the road in a few places.

See pictures below...

NOTE:  The route will be intentionally slow to allow for safe traversing of the forest roads, including the possibility of other traffic.  You are cautioned to DRIVE SAFELY on the narrow forest roads.

Clarification of Scoring:

We will be running a "perfect time" event with each car having a perfect arrival time at each control throughout the day.  If you are delayed for any reason, you can claim a no-penalty delay of whole minutes + 30 seconds up to 20 minutes for any one half of the event.  Delays must be turned in, in writing at the control after your delay.  At each control you will have a 1 minute pause in the rally to obtain a timing sticker from the control crew.  Timing / scoring will be 1 point per 0.01 minute early or late up to 2 minutes and 500 points for a missed control or more than 10 minutes early / late.

Along the route you will also have some fairly simple questions to answer, just in case we need to break ties...  Each incorrect or missing answer will cost you 10 points.

All controls will be shown in the route book, and interval times between instructions will be provided to simplify the math.  It can't get much easier, but experience shows that people will still be early / late.

Route books will be distributed at the driver's meeting.  A sample route book page is available HERE.

We will post an entry list at this page as pre-entries are received.
