The Alley
Rally returns to the streets and alleys of Columbus and will leave you
asking “WWJD?” (What would Jones do?) We have tried to recapture the
flavor (hopefully briny ice) of the original Alley Rally. The 30 mile
course will traverse streets and alleys throughout much of the north
side of Columbus. There will be only one car class – “Ill equipped”.
The event will again feature BIG money cash prizes: 1st =
$5.95 , 2nd = $3.95, 3rd = $1.95 and POR
(“Press-on-regardless” i.e. Last Place Official Finisher) = $0.95.
The
format will be TSD (time/speed/distance) timed to the nearest minute,
12-15 mph average speeds combined with Q and A (question and answer) for
landmarks found along the route. The route will include more allies &
fewer streets than in last year, because Dave laid out most of the
course.
Note that
this is not a beginner rally and that, as in previous alley rallies,
more experience and technical expertise than usual is needed for course
following. (if you've never been lost on an alley rally, then you've
never run one.) There will be multiple restart points along the route
for anybody who gets totally lost to get back on course.
Note that
this is a “for fun” gimmick rally, NOT a street race and all applicable
speed and traffic laws are to be strictly obeyed.
Because
this is a mid-winter event it is suggested that all cars be equipped
appropriately. Entries should be two person driver/navigator teams. A
flashlight and watch are suggested. A map of Columbus or GPS would be
advised so that you can find the pickup points if you get lost.
Answers
to the question regarding protests:
Politically Incorrect: What??? Are you nuts??? This is the Alley
Rally!!!
In the manner of Politicians: For serious consideration write your
protest on the back of a $100.00 bill and hand it to Janis.
