Update - 10/14/2003 A drive-through of the course on October 13 revealed that Forestry has closed several roads for the winter. They usually don't do this until some time in November, so they caught us off guard, resulting in some changes to the route and schedule. New Running Schedule: Registration - 9:00 - 10:00 AM in front of Penny's on North Bridge Street, Chillicothe - Click HERE for map of the start location. Driver's meeting - 10:00 AM First Car Off - 10:31 AM First Car back in Chillicothe for break: 12:30 PM - about 51 miles through Tar Hollow Forest including two old Sunriser / Tulip stages First car resumes rally - 1:30 PM First Car finishes back in Chillicothe: 3:30 PM - about 50 miles through Scioto Trail Forest, including three old Sunriser / Tulip Stages. Route Status: The roads are in great shape with the fall colors just about peak. If anything the leaves are staring to fall which tends to make it tough to see the road in a few places. See pictures below... NOTE: The route will be intentionally slow to allow for safe traversing of the forest roads, including the possibility of other traffic. You are cautioned to DRIVE SAFELY on the narrow forest roads. Clarification of Scoring: We will be running a "perfect time" event with each car having a perfect arrival time at each control throughout the day. If you are delayed for any reason, you can claim a no-penalty delay of whole minutes + 30 seconds up to 20 minutes for any one half of the event. Delays must be turned in, in writing at the control after your delay. At each control you will have a 1 minute pause in the rally to obtain a timing sticker from the control crew. Timing/ scoring will be 1 point per 0.01 minute early or late up to 2 minutes and 500 points for a missed control or more than 10 minutes early / late. Along the route you will also have some fairly simple questions to answer, juts in case we need to break ties... Each incorrect answer will cost you 10 points. All controls will be shown in the route book, and interval times between instructions will be provided to simplify the math. It can't get much easier, but experience shows that people will still be early/late. Route books will be distributed at the driver's meeting. Entry List: At this point we have 15 entries (Tuesday evening, October 14) and have been told to expect another 10-15 by the day of the event. I am waiting on confirmation of a couple of "I plan to attend" emails and will then publish the entry list at this page. Pictures: I have posted pictures from the route below.
